Director’s Message

Dear MEFELO’26 Participants,

Welcome to the MEF University English Language Olympics (MEFELO)!

I vividly remember the day I shared with my trainee teachers the idea of holding an English language occasion where learners of English could showcase their skills at the university.

I also recall the brainstorming session where we envisioned what the MEFELO logo might look like. What began as a simple idea has since evolved into a dynamic event that brings together students, educators, and language enthusiasts.

Through our co-learnership journey, we have successfully built a micro-culture and a strong learning community, where each team member proudly takes on the identity of a ‘Mefelog’ (MEFELO volunteer). Despite the variety of our roles, some of which may seem prosaic or mundane, our collective efforts contribute to a larger, poetic and inspirational mosaic of learning and sustainable growth.

As an African proverb wisely says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” At MEFELO, we do not seek to race ahead at full speed, but rather to move forward with consistency and steady determination, ensuring that every step we take is meaningful and lasting.
